Rail Fence Wall Hanging // March 3rd-April 14th, Tuesdays 6:00-8:30

$200.00

This Rail Fence Quilt Wall Hanging is a great project for beginners to start their quilting journey! The smaller size is more manageable than a full-sized quilt. Looking at this pattern, the construction seems complicated but is really quite simple. Students will learn the basics of quilting – including choice of fabrics, proper (and safe) cutting techniques, a good ¼” seam for piecing, quilting the three layers together (top, batting and backing) and finally, the binding.

Can you do it? You sure can and you will even enjoy it too!

About the instructor Judy Paiva:

Quilting has been a part of my life for more than 35 years. I scoured books and magazines to learn … no internet back then! I loved that I could use my “artsy” brain and still satisfy my utilitarianism! My quilts have been gifted to newlyweds, new babies, special birthdays, charity quilts and made to celebrate just about any occasion you could think of!

On a whim, I applied for an adult ed teaching position and got it! More than 7 years later, the fact that some of those first students are still quilting must mean that I did something right!! I found a love of teaching and sharing my passion to new (and continuing) students. I am a member of the Wayside Quilt Guild and have learned so much and have met some very nice quilters.

In the other parts of my life, I am a geologist working full-time (looking forward to retirement soon??!). I’m happily married with 2 pups (Elly & Ash) and 1 horse (Jack). My wife and I recently purchased a longarm quilting machine and have been learning and practicing our skills to take on client’s quilts.
